Thermal Road Repairs has launched a unique initiative aimed at finding the best young apprentices – from the world of boxing! The company that delivers sustainable, high-performance road repair solutions – has now signed up one of the UK’s best young fighters.

Manchester’s Adam Almaremi, 16, a national champion who boxes for Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club, has joined Thermal Road Repairs as a result of an alliance with Project Boxing – a media and management company co-founded by former world champion Anthony Crolla.

“We believe amateur boxers make the best apprentices as they have discipline, work ethic and motivation,” Anthony said. “We’re delighted to work with Thermal Road Repairs as they share our community values and are determined to raise awareness about the great careers young people can have in their industry.

Speaking about the new initiative, Thermal Road Repairs managing director Aidan Conway, said: “Adam shows remarkable dedication to his chosen sport, we’ve built his apprenticeship journey to balance his work life and boxing commitments.

“All participation sport promotes physical health, improves social skills and enhances mental wellbeing, being a part of the TRR team will contribute to well-rounded development.

We want him to continue to train and excel in boxing, so we will be flexible with his work schedule. If Adam needs time off to train and compete in tournaments, we will facilitate that. 

“We think Adam is a star and we’re proud that he has chosen to work with us. He will be working on our four-year framework contract to deliver highways maintenance services in Manchester. His development will also see him working alongside the winter maintenance team in Manchester.”

Nigel Travis, head coach at Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club, added: “Adam is an outstanding fighter who has represented England and won numerous national titles. He will be a great addition to Thermal Road Repairs because he has self-discipline, he has a great understanding of other people and is respectful. He is a diamond of a young man.”
