Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) – Traditional v Thermal Road process

Did you know that traditional pothole repair methods incur high risks of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS)? But there is another way…

Read on to discover how our process helps prevent HAVS.

Traditional Process

The traditional method of tarmac pothole repair comes with high risks of HAVS and low results. The Daily Exposure Limit Value (ELV) is measured in points, with a maximum ELV of 400 points before you are over the exposure limit for HAVS.

In a traditional process, a worker could possibly be using equipment for a long period of time over the course of the day, such as using equipment for 30 minutes per hour to repair a road, which can rack up an ELV score of over 5000! And the average number of potholes filled is only 30 per day with this process.

Thermal Road Repairs Process

We do things a little differently at Thermal Road Repairs, with our innovative methods that will help to reduce the risk of HAVS. Firstly our method means workers are using the equipment for much smaller lengths of time, about 10 minutes for every hour that goes by, and the innovative equipment also generates less ELV during this time.

Using our equipment we end the day with an ELV score of less than 200 points and normally will fill an average of 75 potholes during this time!

Thermal Road Repairs - Your Reliable Road Construction Company

Here at Thermal Road Repairs, we keep workers safe using our low-emission, zero-waste pothole repair methods. Our process is fast, efficient and can be used on any asphalt type.

We use heat to reform failed and failing asphalt, which makes the asphalt malleable, which means potholes and any other defects are easily fixed. It is powered by green energy such as solar and biofuels, with a method that uses 100% recycled materials.

With this method no cutting is required which means there is reduced noise and the task can be done quickly, minimising disruption and creating a seamless repair that meets SROH standards.
